A „Kígyók, Griffek, Sárkányok” gondolati köre a keresztszemes kollekciómban jelenik meg, amelyben ezekkel az erőt adó, védelmező szimbólumokkal dolgoztunk. A keresztszemes állatmotívumokat a helyi árpataki keresztszemes gyűjteményből, valamint az erdélyi mintakincsből gyűjtöttem össze, és ezek alapján formálódott a kollekció vizuális világa.
A kollekció darabjait Mihálcz Ramóna, udvarhelyi barátnőm készítette kézzel, hagyományos keresztszemes hímzéssel. A kézi hímzés lassú, elmélyült folyamata itt különös jelentőséggel bír: minden egyes keresztszem egy ima, egy tudatos gesztus, amely figyelmet, jelenlétet és szándékot hordoz.
Ezek a motívumok nem pusztán díszítőelemek. A kígyó, a griff és a sárkány ősi jelentéshordozók: a védelem, az átalakulás, a belső erő és az éberség jelképei. Nem véletlen, hogy régen királyok és nagy politikai személyiségek is védő jelekkel hímzett öltözeteket viseltek fontos megbeszéléseken és döntések idején. Az ilyen ruhadarabok szimbolikus pajzsként működtek, erőt adtak és védelmet biztosítottak viselőjüknek.
Ebben a kollekcióban a hagyományos motívumkincs, a kézzel végzett munka és a szimbolikus gondolkodás találkozik, egy olyan csendes, mégis erőteljes vizuális nyelvet hozva létre, amely generációkon átívelő tudást hordoz.
The concept of “Snakes, Griffins, Dragons” comes to life in my cross-stitch collection, where we worked with these power-giving, protective symbols. The animal motifs were collected from the local Árpátak cross-stitch collection as well as from the Transylvanian pattern heritage, forming the visual foundation of the collection.
The pieces of the collection were hand-embroidered using traditional cross-stitch technique by my friend from Odorheiu Secuiesc, Mihálcz Ramóna. The slow, meditative process of hand embroidery carries special significance here: each individual cross-stitch is a prayer, a conscious gesture imbued with attention, presence, and intention.
These motifs are not merely decorative elements. The snake, the griffin, and the dragon are ancient carriers of meaning, symbols of protection, transformation, inner strength, and vigilance. It is no coincidence that in the past, kings and influential political figures wore garments embroidered with protective symbols during important meetings and decisions. Such clothing functioned as symbolic armor, offering strength and protection to the wearer.
In this collection, traditional motifs, handcraft, and symbolic thinking come together to form a quiet yet powerful visual language that carries knowledge passed down through generations.
